Well, it’s the last week of summer and I could write all kinds of metaphors about it or just simply dedicate my outfit and the colorful, vibrant pictures to the hot season and call it “Ode to Summer”.
Heart wall by Mr. Brainwash at Union Market DC.
A little background on the location of this photo shoot. This iconic heart wall done by street artist Mr.Brainwash, was one of several art installations he created at Union Market in DC. The heart wall was unveiled in March 2016, by Mr.Brainwash and First Lady, Michelle Obama in honor of International Women’s Day and the First Lady’s “Let Girls Learn” initiative.

Reason #5784378 why I love DC, you discover amazing things pretty much on every other corner and then you find out Michelle Obama was here blessing it with her presence, like: “YAS QUEEN” *That’s a Broad City reference*. Of course this means that the heart wall is prime real estate for bloggers, photographers, creatives and Instagram enthusiasts to come by the wall and take some epic photos.
When the wind is picking up, it becomes your friend on a photo shoot.

I wanted my Ode to Summer photos to be done at this location because the wall basically sums up my love of color, vibrancy and personal style in the summer months. Not to mention another amazing reason for taking photos here, the wall’s inspiration of empowering young girls! (As a former teacher in another life, the “Let Girls Learn” initiative is something I totally support)

Just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean I will be saying good bye to color until next year, that’s just not my style. It just gives me a opportunity to play up jewel and earthy tones and a chance to wear all the colorful scarves I can find!
