Phew! It’s been a while since I posted something, so my apologies to you guys for being in radio silence for a bit. I had a busy week last week and a very special guest in town for the weekend AKA Canada’s May 2-4 this past weekend.
One of my Toronto besties comes to visit DC for the first time!
One of the “loves of my life” Ginge came down for the Canadian long weekend to visit with her shiny new husband Phil to tour the sites and spend some quality time in Washington DC. You might remember I wrote a couple posts on her in anticipation of her nuptials back in March. Check out my pre-wedding outfit drama here and post wedding blog here.
We toured the sites, visited with the Obamas, sat on Lincoln’s knee (for your Simpsons fans out there) and sang our little hearts out at Karaoke in Annandale (we harmonized to pitch perfection like almost every time thanks to Britney Spears and Bruno Mars). Basically one of the best weekends I’ve had here period!.
As we walked the National Mall and in and out of museums, it got me thinking about what you should where when visiting Washington DC.
For a day of site seeing and photo taking while looking comfortably cute, some Aldo shoes, Steve Madden Leggings, Forever 21 blazer, Wet Seal hat and Korean T-Shirt from Korea.
Of course you are in one of the most scenic and picturesque places in the world and you want to look cute while standing in front of the Washington Monument or Capital Hill but keeping practical comfort in mind.
A Blazer for a touch of chic is nice for pictures and also comes in handy when a breeze picks up and you are stranded outside with no shelter. A Hat?! Adorbs in pictures and is a win win whether it’s raining (protect the hair) or sunny (protects your face) can’t go wrong with that!
Fellow Washingtonian wearing not so comfy wedges on the left and comfy Toms on the right.
I recommend some comfortable flats that you are familiar with instead of new shoes you have to work in, cause you will be paying the price with blisters and sore feet. My lovely friend and model from my “style in all shapes and sizes” post shows us the cute but maybe not so practical wedges you may think are comfy but can become uncomfortable after a long walk. Do you see how far the Washington Monument is? lol On the right she’s wearing the very popular and comfy Toms shoes with a light coat for the windy days in DC.
Comfortable Old Navy boyfriend jeans, Under Armour running shoes, Hello Kitty Tee and Washington Nats baseball cap! Ultimate in comfort, cute and an Ode to DC!
Typically I’m not a T-shirt, jeans and baseball cap kinda girl but for a long day of touring this outfit to me is the perfect fit. Comfort in shoes and jeans, slice of cute with a graphic tee and no other better baseball cap to wear than a Washington Nationals cap!
So thanks to my love Ginge for inspiring yet another blog post, um yea this is like the 4th post in your honor cause you’re kinda a big deal 😉
Keeping it Confident – Patty
