Now I know what your thinking “I know how to pack for a 4 day trip” and I’m sure you do. But do you know how to pack for a 4 day trip in a large gym bag? Oh, and it also happens to be one of your best friend’s wedding so you have to take your “reception” outfit and shoes in said gym bag? Maybe not so experienced, because the mere thought of a gym bag holding all your outfits, make up, accessories, shoes and “potential options” is hard to imagine. Hard to imagine yes, but not impossible.
Check out my step by step photo montage of “How to pack for a 4 day trip”…in a gym bag 😉
Time to get all of THIS…
Into this gym bag.
Whether I have a suit case or a gym bag, I like to line the bottom of my bag with thick clothes like jogging pants or a sweater. I think it helps buffer your shoes and clothes from the beating it can take through airport handling.
Next, I line my shoes on top of my sweater. It helps maximize space and your not throwing clothes everywhere looking for your other shoe.
I take my smaller items like undies, socks, light shirts and stuff them in between the shoes for that extra cushion. It also helps maximize on the gaps in between the shoes.
Finally, I take heavier pieces, roll them up and line them on top of the shoes. TADA! finished! It’s compact, neat and still room around the sides for those last minute additions.
So simple huh? Not really, I had to have a serious conversation with myself and say “Self, pick four outfits, SOME accessories and accept it”. Meaning, I looked at my plans for the next 4 days and planned an outfit per day. It was hard and unfair but to save on space, weight and the hassle of lugging around bags, it’s the responsible adult thing to do. A harsh, but necessary reality.
Here are my accessories and outfits that are tucked away in this magical gym bag.
I’ll be reporting from Toronto over the weekend so stay tuned! Can’t wait to see my family and friends!!!
